Purpose of the Management Committee
Our Management Committee is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organisation. They ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, oversee financial management, and set key policies. The Committee also monitors performance, ensures services meet tenants' needs, and supports the senior staff in delivering the association’s objectives. Members act in the best interests of the association and its residents at all times.
Who are the Management Committee?
Yorkhill's current Management Committee consists of both local residents and individuals with the area's best interests at heart.
At present, there are 9 elected members: 4 local residents and 5 others. Additionally, we were delighted to welcome one newly co-opted member in June 2025, as well as filling a casual vacancy. All committee members are unpaid, giving their time on a voluntary basis.
The Association requires to have a minimum of 7, and a maximum of 15 elected members. This means that there are spaces available should any local residents or people who want to see Yorkhill thrive be interested in volunteering. Please get in touch with our office if you'd like to know more.

What Can I Expect from Committee Involvement?
We have compiled a handy 5 page slideshow on what you can expect from being a Committee member, and the kind of things you will cover - Committee Introduction
Please also see our Frequently Asked Questions handout, which answers some of the things you may want to know when thinking about joining - Committee FAQs
We also have a more detailed breakdown of Committee involvement in our handbook - Committee Induction Handbook
In short however, if you:
- Can spare a few hours once a month to read some reports/papers and then attend a meeting (Thursdays at 6pm);
- Are a local person or have Yorkhill's local interests at heart;
- Would like to learn or enhance skills such as leadership, decision-making or governance;
- Are keen to learn about the workings of the housing sector, and how it affects residents
Then the Committee might be for you! We offer a comprehensive induction programme, plus ongoing training and conferencing opportunities.
