Right to Repair

Under the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001, Scottish secure tenants and short Scottish secure tenants have the right to have small urgent repairs carried out by their landlord within a given timescale. This is called the Right to Repair scheme, and covers repairs up to the value of £350 where the landlord fails to send a contractor and a secondary contractor within stated timescales.

Compensation will be payable to the tenant up to £100 - with an initial payment of £15 and then £3 for every additional day that the repair is not attended to.

The Right to Repair scheme applies to all tenants of Local Authorities and Housing Associations.
