Glasgow City Council’s Business Glasgow Team offers tailored start-up support for individuals looking to set up in business or for established businesses trading for less than 12 months.

The Business Gateway Glasgow service provides specialist support to new and existing businesses as well as social enterprises. Their start-up Advisers assist clients with:

• Writing a business plan
• Understanding and accessing finance
• How to market and sell products or services
• Professional Business advice and support from business idea and throughout the first 12 months of trading

The team supported 434 new businesses to start-up in 24/25 across a wide range of sectors - the top five sectors are listed below:

• Health & Wellbeing – 66
• Creative Industries - 63
• Hair & Beauty Services - 45
• Construction, Trades & Engineering – 42
• Retail & Wholesale – 39

To be eligible for the free service, you must be:

• A Glasgow resident; or
• A non-Glasgow resident planning to operate from commercial premises in Glasgow
