Scottish Parliament Elections 2026

News
Residents across Scotland are being encouraged to prepare for the upcoming Scottish Parliament election on Thursday 7th May 2026, ensuring they know where to vote and who they can vote for.
The election will decide all 129 Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs), who are responsible for key areas including housing, health, education and transport.
Voters will receive a poll card ahead of election day, which confirms the location of their polling station. You must vote at the location listed on your card if voting in person, but you do not need to bring your polling card on the day.
If you are unsure where your polling station is, you can quickly check online.
Voters can choose candidates standing in their local constituency, as well as parties or candidates on the regional list under Scotland’s voting system. To explore candidates standing in your area, visit Who Can I Vote For?
